Missing Package (when signature upon delivery was required)
TDLR: A package that required direct signature was marked as delivered even though no one was home to receive it. Now it is missing. The signature in the proof of delivery document does not belong to anyone in my household. FedEx is saying they are not responsible even though the situation was handled improperly on their end.
I ordered an Asus Zenbook Duo 14 from itsworthmore on 9/24/2025. It was supposedly delivered be FedEx on 9/29/2025 at 12:57pm. Per eBay's policy, anything valued over $750 requires "signature upon delivery" services. As per protocol, the seller did request this when shipping the package, so they are not at fault.
At the time of delivery (9/29/2025 at 12:57pm) no one in my household was present to answer the door.
FedEx Signature Services specifies: "FedEx obtains a signature from someone at the delivery address. If no one is at the address, we reattempt delivery." Presumably, the driver left the package on the doorstep, instead of attempting re-delivery.
FedEx has been dismissive of this (closing my support ticket with them without resolution), saying that a signature was provided per their documentation. The problem is that the signature shown in the proof of delivery document does not belong to me nor anyone in my household. Presumably, the driver marked their own signature and left the package where it was susceptible to theft for over 6 hours.
FedEx has been dismissive of this, saying that a signature was provided per their documentation. They automatically closed my support ticket without resolution.
Am I screwed just because there is a random signature on the document? Is FedEx really absolved of responsibility here?
