Misleading descriptions
So I made a purchase of a 3lb bulk jewelry item that had several descriptors. I thought it was suppose to be a combination of all those descriptors...the exact wording... "3 Pound Unsorted Huge Lot VTG Jewelry Vintage New Junk & Wear Resell Tangled In " Sounded to me like a fair UNSORTED assortment of vintage and new with all the rest added in...right????
I got JUNK and about 4 pieces possibly wearable I guess if you had to. The rest was broken and odds and ends pieces of broken ones that weren't even in there.
What say you???
Is "3 Pound Unsorted Huge Lot VTG Jewelry Vintage New Junk & Wear Resell Tangled In "
Is this a misleading title?
Her description though says:
Okay so I should've quite literally believed the description over the title... I get it.
Conflicting things in her description to title though...
1. She says she lightly cleans her jewelry so unsorted does not apply.
2. Vintage - Modern styles was also in the description. Okay there was some modern ( the 4 wearable) and maybe odd pieces of vintage...hard to tell what the rest was.
3. The odd pieces weren't part of the large pieces so you couldn't repair anything with the pieces to possibly wear or resell. Junk craft lot is an understatement.
The negative feedbacks the store has were similar complaints which were met with replies as if they were all trolls and scammers. Yes, you should read the full description and also take it LITERALLY, definitely in this case, over the title.
Idk I just think it's wrong to load up your title like someone is going to win the lottery with a little bit of everything and then in description tell you I'm just throwing all my junk in there... with conflicting statements.
Sent a message to resolve this situation and they replied that they needed to get their concierge involved, so that they didn't go against eBay policies...kind of ironic isn't it?
Can't return it as we lost a bit of the junk on the floor, under or in furniture and such...still finding some when I step on it lol
Cutting my losses but its just that I feel scammed by another tricky eBay seller and their feedback. I will take the description as absolute truth over a loaded up title again.

Mentor2 years agoHello dudesbootsale,
eBay has a 30-day Money Back Guarantee. Buyers are protected 30 days from the date of delivery if they receive something that is not as described in the listing. It almost sounds as though this Seller is either a high-volume Seller and/or is a Top Rated Seller. If that's the case, they may require that Buyers return purchases for a refund. If the product is not returned in the exact condition it was sent, some Sellers can deduct up to 50% of the refund. Just to give you a heads up that if you decide to open an Item Not as Described case and the Seller needs you to return your purchase, you may not get a full refund.

OP2 years agoI realize all that as I am a seller as well. Im taking this as a learning lesson now.
My real question I guess...Is it not a bad idea to load up your title and then contradict yourself in the description??
Like... Can I put Unsorted New Vintage Wearable Resell and junk on a lot of clothing and then in the description say basically this is a Junk Lot of clothing? If she knows its junk, shouldn't it be titled as a JUNK LOT? Or Crafters ONLY?
Wouldn't that be considered by Ebay to be a misleading almost fraudulent listing? As picky as eBay is about other things, it seems like this would not be accepted.
Another example...Can I say something is antique even if I don't know and then in the description say I cant guarantee it is antique?
I posted a hat recently that was missing a tag but had a logo on the front. I listed it as UNBRANDED and eBay took it down and that's ok but thats my point. I clearly said this In the title and description. Which I am not complaining but we try to be transparent and clear as we can on listings and then you have sellers like this who can load up a lot of random title wording...make a contradicting description and its all ok.
It was a rip off to me and its acceptable because she covered her but with a mumbo jumbo clustered description???
