misaddressed item
A buyer has contacted me to say he furnished the wrong address for an item I shipped. USPS tracking indicates it is in transit. I attempted to execute a redirect request but USPS is asking $70 for that service. (The item is a trumpet mouthpiece valued at only $45.) I advised the buyer to contact the resident of the wrong address. I also suggested the resident may refuse the item in which case it will be returned to me so I can reship to the correct address. Is there anything else that can be done in this situation? Thanks for any suggestions!

Mentor3 years agoA USPS intercept to have it returned to you is only $15.
Tell buyer to contact USPS to see if he can still put a forwarding address at his old post office. Otherwise, buyer can only hope it gets returned to you or he is out his purchase.

OP3 years agoDidn't know about the return-to-me feature. I'll eat the $15 just to keep faith with the buyer. Thanks!

Mentor3 years agoYou can charge the buyer for the service, plus charge buyer for the cost of reshipping to the correct address.
