Might have bought fake vintage items, what should I do?
Hello everyone,
I bought a pair of vintage shoes in perfect condition and got anxious after receiving them. My friene has a same pair in different size and bought about 25 years ago in the boutique and by comparing them I saw discrepancies... Here's the fishy part:
1) the numbers on the inner side of the waist indicating size are in different fonts. Very obvious. I searched online but figured out that the same type of shoes all have one font that is different from the one I bought.
The genuine one ↑ and the one i got↓ the font difference btw number 3 seems obvious to me
2) the font of the "made in" label on the soles. Genuine shoes have a slightly wider font but the one I bought looks thin and long.

3) the direction of the made-in label. Again, I searched online and all shoes of the same type (supposedly genuine), including my old one, have the opposite direction of lettering label on the sole...
4) The stitching, was not a big deal but bothered me a little. The shoe is famous for its craftsmanship but I find a double lining on the back side of the ankle. I checked other shoes online... and also my old one, they only have one stitching line from head to toe.
5) another weird observation. After I bought the shoes, the seller quickly listed another pair using the same photo and same description, another vintage brand new pair! (no box no dust bag). I'm size 5 which means my size is pretty rare. having two identical vintage pair for sale... just make the whole story more suspicious to me.
Since it's a vintage pair produced probably over 10 years ago (the buyer wouldn't share when he bought the pair)... A lot of the observations are only tentative, not much could be used as definite proof to emphasize it's either genuine or counterfeit.
Wondering what's your idea on the genuineness of the pair and what should I do next: find a specialist to examine the shoes. or return-I won't get a full refund, that's disappointing.....
Many thanks!

Mentor3 years ago@zhen_dais if u don't think they are authentic, and from what u describe, i agree with u, open a return this item case for the reason 'doesn't seem authentic' >

the seller will have to accept the return and send u a pre paid return shipping label and fully refund u, including the shipping u paid, if applicable. so i don't know y u think u won't get a full refund, bc u r suppose to and if u don't, u can appeal >

OP3 years ago@stuff4divas Thank you for your prompt reply! The reason why I thought I might not get a full refund is because the seller may argue that it's perfectly genuine. As I mentioned... those discrepancies are only tentative since it's vintage. If the seller disapproves the return, or if he got the return and then tried to argue that I did something with the shoes so it’s no longer in sellable conditions...etc. What should I do?

Mentor3 years ago@zhen_dais the seller won't win on this for the reasons u already stated and especially listing another exact pair, too far fetched for vintage shoes.
Seller cannot disapprove a return item case for non remorse reasons, like 'doesn't seem authentic'. Read the link I sent u.
Take a few photos of the shoes to show their condition b4 u send them back in case they say u did something to the shoes. it'll be good for ur appeal if needed. If eBay sides with the seller, which i doubt, u can appeal via the link i sent u.
if u run into any problems, u can send me a private message and i will guide u.
FYI, here is ebay policy protecting buyers> https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy?id=4210&st=3&pos=1&query=eBay%20Money%20Back%20Guarantee%20policy&intent=buyer%20protection&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1238
