Messaging code error/system flaw that directs me to inbox rather than the message prompt...

I have a "buyer" who sent an offer and hasn't paid. When I went to their profile to message them upon entering the item number I was redirected to my inbox instead of the message prompt.

So Ebay, how am I supposed to contact this person regarding paying for the item?

If you have not received the notification from Ebay that the buyer has paid for their order, you can cancel the transaction if it has been more than 4 days since you accepted their offer.

In Seller Hub, go to Orders.
Find the order you want to cancel, and from More actions, select Cancel order.
Select "buyer didn't pay" as the reason for the cancellation and then select Submit to finish.

I am well aware of all your suggestions and this issue is not resolved by any of those.

I also have my store set up to block buyers with 2 or more unpaid cases and it does not function properly as I have issues with non-paying buyers more often than I should with that being set.
