I was messaging a seller to fix a purchase I made and asked them to message me when they corrected the consolidated shipping. For some reason I got a message from ebay saying that I was trying to message personal information and I wasn't. There wasn't anything at all personal.. No numbers or anything.

Mentor3 years agoSomething in the message you sent or the message you received may have appeared to be contact information -- an email address, web address, or a phone number -- at least it may have looked like that to a simple script scanning for such things.
Scammers often try to find a way to conceal contact information within a message to get around eBay's filters, so the filters must be broad enough to catch things that are obscured versions of those things, not just obvious examples. Sometimes that means that part numbers or innocent phrases can trigger a filter or a message like that.
