MESSAGE BLOCKED FROM TRANSMISSION TO SELLER ON EBAY
05/27/25 TUES AM
Until tonight (05/26) I could send a note in the Ebay box with questions posed to a Seller. Then tonight I tried to send the same type of note to a Seller with 2 Qs about an item. The message below appeared, and my message was prevented from being transmitted to the Seller:
"It appears your message contains contact or payment information which is not allowed under our Member-to-member contact policy. For the safety of our users, all communication and payments must remain on the eBay platform."
I had typed a "Re" section with the item, cost, shipping charge, and return policy. That was followed by To: [and the code name of the Seller, not a person's name] and the state.
Then I typed my Qs and signed off with my name (and state in parentheses).
This practice I have always followed with no obstacles in the past to have a record for my own file record. But NOW, because of the message above, I REMOVED the name of the Seller and cost information. And yet STILL the message was blocked with the same sign.
What POLICY CHANGE has occurred since a few days ago (my last, successful transmission) to block a simple transmission with Qs to a Seller like this? PROBLEM: Now, after removing identifying/cost information, the message STILL is blocked, so I don't know how to communicate with a Seller on Ebay.
How to have this block on my attempts to reach this or any other Seller removed so that I may ask a couple of Qs?

Mentor1 year ago@swif_29,
By adding the seller's state and yours along with names, whether real or not, you triggered the message about buying outside of ebay. The only times ebay allows location or contact information to be sent is when making a local pickup purchase. Now that your message was flagged, even though you removed some of the offending info, ebay will not allow the message to be sent.
I am surprised that you were able to do this in the past unless local pickup was an option on the listings.
"This practice I have always followed with no obstacles in the past to have a record for my own file record".
The info about item and shipping cost along with any taxes you paid is all listed in your purchase history's Order details so why do you need the "message" for your records? You can always take and save a Screenshot of the order details for your records as a document.

OP1 year agoHello. I came to realize, only after trial and error, that the block occurred because I mentioned having seen the Ebay ad on Facebook Marketplace. The external reference is apparently what is 'out of bounds.' I subsequently removed the mention of Facebook Marketplace from my note to the Seller, and the note was transmitted. I have since answered 2 other Ebay ads and had no problem.
I'm unaware of this page, but you may DELETE my messages since I found the source of the problem. The puzzlement was that a few days ago I could type a message and send it to a Seller with no fuss.
To answer one comment of yours, I have no way of taking screenshots. I simply keep a record in my email of my Ebay communications when I have purchased items. At a later point I delete them.
