Question

Mentors? My comment re potential unfair trade practices re ebay profiting from taxes and government fees by adding them into total fees was a form of snark and justification. Didn't ask for a biased opinion. I am just saying, and it doesn't make it right. It simply hasn't been challenged.

We mentors are merely eBay members who have volunteered to help other members navigate buying and selling on eBay. We are at our best answering factual questions.

When a member posts on this board without asking any questions ... but just wanting to complain about eBay's policies and drops threats about going to Reps ... well, that's not really our business.

We must follow Community Board policy just as any other member who posts on these Boards ... but certainly are free to express ourselves as normal human beings ... and NOT as 'customer service lackies', who are afraid of losing their job.

I'm really sorry you're displeased with the answer you received on your previous post ... but I personally didn't see anything wrong with it. It was 'just the facts' ... without opinion or snark ... and completely accurate. You apparently were expecting an 'You're completely right' response ... which didn't happen because your facts were incorrect. And when someone's facts are wrong ... we tell them so.

You said that you felt 'scolded', rather than 'mentored' when you last posted ... when it actually was you who scolded the mentor about their response. I recommend you read their response again ... seriously. ðŸ™‚

You are absolutely allowed to challenge what you see as unfair. As for "biased opinion[s]", some might actually consider that your own opinion on eBay's "unfair trade practices" is biased. I see this Ask A Mentor forum as a way for those of us who are experienced eBay users, whether as sellers or buyers, to help other users understand how eBay works. Often, repeating or quoting eBay's User Agreement is sufficient. No eBay "Mentor" can change anything about eBay's operations or policies. Perhaps a better forum to challenge eBay's policies and/or procedures is through legal channels. If you do choose to go that route, however, I strongly, strongly suggest you read the Legal Disputes section of eBay's current User Agreement. Or provide that section to your attorney(s).

@roguey15 I understand how you feel. It is frustrating to have the final value fee charged on the whole payment (including sales taxes, etc).
