Summary: seymourglass01, a long-term user since 2003 with 100% feedback, created an alternative account for sensitive purchases and was permanently suspended without appeal. They suspect the suspension relates to recent ISP changes and intermittent VPN use. Concerned about privacy being equated with criminality, seymourglass01 worries that their main account might be at risk due to potential detection by the platform's algorithms. They express frustration with the platform's handling of trust profiles.
User since 2003. Bought one of my fav guitars like 20 years ago off this site. Recieved 571 feedback. Pretty much have always had a 100% score.
I recently made an alternative account from a different email for the sole purpose of making, ahem, "sensitive" purchases.
The end user experience was horrible. There are clearly becoming two experiences: one for "trusted" users and one for strangers.
I made of a total of two purchases: both adult toys straight from china. (Isn't that like, one of the points of this site?)
A brief interval of time later (a month maybe?), I get a message basically saying I'm suspended... permanently, no take-backs, get the f out. Referenced the vaguely important sounding code "MC999", which they've published zero information about, and when you ask the AI, it babbles nonsensically about username requirements. There's no appeal, just a brick wall.
But what really bothered me was some crap in the message about disabling any other accounts I try to use. Like, for real?
I know what I did that probably caused it:
(1) I recently switched ISPs
(2) I started using a VPN, but only intermittently.
So they banned me because (obviously) privacy must = criminality, and now my main account is at risk if the Algorithm (the new God of this place, apparently) ever sees that the two accounts came from the same network. (Intermittent VPN use)
I'm sick of this fingerprinting-you-to-build-a-trust-profile-and-then-treat-you-like-crap-if-your-score's-low stuff, man. For real. Sick of it.
What are the chances this account gets nuked?
