< need to find a member all i have is the name or initials and town cant get it from my ebay >
If that member is a seller, and that's a small town, you might have some luck searching for listings within a few miles of that town's ZIP code, and seeing if you can find something in the listings/sellers that rings a bell. If it's a large town, I wouldn't even bother; there'll be too many search results.
I just now tried the following, and it worked. I use a desktop computer. If you're using the app, for example on a smart phone, you'll have to get somebody else to help you, because I know nothing about the app.
• Go to Advanced Search. On practically any transaction page (not the community forum pages) click the tiny "Advanced" link just to the right of the big, blue Search button at the top right of most pages.
They require you to include at least one keyword. You want a word that's likely to be in every listing. I think the word "the" is the most common word in the English language. If it isn't, it should be.
• Type in the word "the" in the Keywords field. Enclose it inside quotation marks, as shown. You can use a different word. If you know the kind of stuff the seller lists, you might know a more appropriate word.
• Just below the Keywords section, put a checkmark in the "Title and description" box.
• Scroll farther down to the "Item Location" section. Type in the ZIP code in the "Postal Code" box. Then, to the left of it, use the down arrow to select a distance. Here's a screenshot of an example. Use the ZIP code of the town of interest, of course, not the one in the example.
• Then scroll on down to the bottom and click the Search button. The search results that come up will show you sellers near that town.
