Maybe someone can help me understand this or offer some advice on how to proceed
Ok , I have never been in this situation so I may be overreacting or not understanding the motives . So I will just be honest and give you my thoughts , and feel free to tell me that I am completely wrong .
Trying buy from a seller . Accepted his offer . I asked him if he would combine shipping . He said he would but would not communicate what that would entail . Sent me an invoice . I cant afford the shipping . I asked him 3 different times to please cancel my order .
Haven't paid . Nothing has shipped .
He seems to be playing games by not directly answering if he will cancel , and still has not cancelled after another 2 polite requests . His last reply was " I never said I wouldn't " .
I'm here now and he still hasn't cancelled it . It seems , to my paranoid thinking , he is trying to get my account slapped with a non paying bidder to my account . I have 100% feedback , he does as well. I have NEVER EVER not paid within 2 hours for each and every transaction .
Am I crazy to think that ? I think I am . Because why ? What would motivate him to do that ? On the other hand why do you think he still hasn't cancelled it ?
My 100% without a blemish is important to me . I know not all of us agree with that . But that's just me .

Having said that , I may have miscommunicated what I was looking for . I understand and accept full responsibility on the policies and my obligations as a buyer .
I am just wondering what motivations the seller MAY / May not be exhibiting by not just cancelling something that he has not yet shipped . In other words , why not just cancel it and part as friends ? It seems your reply would suggest holding me accountable for something I cant afford is ok to do ?

Mentor2 years agoIt is impossible to guess what the seller's thought process is.
I can only speculate that maybe the seller is waiting to see if you pay, and if you haven't paid after 4 days, then the seller can cancel the transaction due to non-payment, thereby avoiding Ebay fees. "Can't afford the shipping" is not a valid reason to request the transaction cancellation since the shipping charges were shown on the listing page.

OP2 years agoAh, I agree for sure . And thank you , that is something I was unaware of . I wasn't even thinking about listing fees . Seems things have changed quite a bit around here . I mean , if I were the seller , I would just tell them " Hey , I need some time for somethin somethin" . It seems to me the system set in place for us has us all at each others necks and throats .
It should be so easy to tell someone with my proven track record , that hey I need to cancel this and he be like Sure no problem . I guess I will just have to start taking my business elsewhere . It's all good if ebay doesn't want sales to be cordial anymore . They have sent no less than 3 emails saying Pay Now !!! And they will probably be salivating to hit me with an unpaid bidder . All from someone who has been a member since 0 1 with not a blemish or need to contact them ever . Haha , I get the reason I CAN'T contact them now when I actually need them ....

OP2 years agoForgot to add : I would guess that is probably real close to his reasoning : I get slapped with an unpaid bidder and he recoups listing fees . Good job ebay , makes sense to me to lump all the IMMEDIATE paying buyers in with a bunch of bottom feeding bums . That will keep us buying for sure !! HAHa!
