Massive heart attack and rude seller
Summary: lakeviewshoppin sought advice on a refund refusal from an e-commerce platform after a seller changed their stance on extending the pick-up time for a table following their husband's serious health issue. They were assured by the platform's customer service that they would be refunded, but ultimately were told their case didn't meet refund qualifications. comics-scifi-collectibles empathized with their situation, suggesting a chargeback might be possible, though uncertain due to the lack of seller breach.
Looking for some advice on refund refusal that ebay has agreed with.
Texted with seller telling them we were in the process of moving from NC to PA and WASN’T SURE WHEN I COULD PICK UP THE TABLE.
A polite response was received, saying no problem… so I paid that day, April 24, $240.
Two days later, my husband had a massive heart attack needing three stents. To say the moving process slowed down is an understatement. (I did not share this with the seller, but I did share it with eBay to open my case.
At least a week before 30 days the seller started asking when I’d be picking it up. After much ado, I agreed to the 30th day as now they weren’t willing to go over that?
A couple of days before the 30th day they texted again to confirm pick up. Within this text they OFFERED TO CANCEL. I loved the table so stupidly I began requesting extensions to which I was met with very, VERY RUDE REPLIES.
I ASKED TO CANCEL AND WAS REFUSED
When relaying this to eBay customer service to intervene on my behalf, I was assured, multiple times assured, that even if they didn’t refund me, not to worry because eBay would.
Turns out, my case doesn’t meet eBay’s refund qualifications??
Seriously, a massive heart attack coupled with a very rude seller, and that doesn’t qualify with extenuating circumstances???
They won’t even let me appeal?
I would love to hear from anyone directly as I am very disappointed with this outcome.

Mentor2 months ago@lakeviewshoppin Sorry about your husband, I hope he's on the mend.
You should have filed a Not Received refund request case no later than 30 days from the date of purchase.
You can try a chargeback with your payment method but I am not sure that will work since the seller didn't breach the agreement.
