Maryland sales tax
House Bill 1169 took place July 1, 2023 & exempts all sales of precious metal bullion or coins from the State sales and use tax. How long will it take eBay to recognize this?

OP2 years agoThanks to those providing feedback. Unfortunate that buyer gets penalized when seller lists incorrectly although hopefully this does not happen too often. Perhaps something to add to seller's agreement to have them more accountable. Was told by 1 seller that it was eBays responsibility when I got taxed incorrectly!

·2 years agoSales tax charged on an item that should not be is a result of being listed in the wrong category, your coin was listed under Collectable Art which is taxable.

OP2 years agoThanks - will let my accountant work it out. May start using local coins shows instead of eBay so don't get hit with the tax.
