Mandatory Mailing Address No PO BOX

Question

I am trying to understand why, when a buyer on eBay purchases large expensive items they cannot have their items sent to a Security box or PO Box?! But set out in the elements on a doorstep, or waiting for someone to steal it? Why can we not use PO Box’s for safety and security for our large expensive purchases?

@bje80 Some sellers think that PO boxes are not safe because eBay offers the option to block shipping to them. Also if the items are shipped with Fed Ex or UPS then they can't be delivered to a PO box unless it's one of the hybrid shipping methods.

The other option for expensive items is to let the seller know that you want to require a signature on delivery. That way item is not delivered until you sign for it. If you are not home it is taken back to the post office.

You do have to make arrangements with the seller to pay the extra signature required fee.
