Managing Plant Store on eBay During Academic Hiatus
Hello eBay Community,
My store, which sells plants, has been inactive for the past year due to my academic commitments. To manage this hiatus, I set all my listing inventories to zero. However, eBay has been alerting me about potential penalties due to low performance.
During the first year of my break, I used the vacation mode, but found it challenging to maintain, as it required frequent refreshes upon expiration. Now, I'm uncertain about the best approach to preserve my store.
I'm particularly concerned about losing my reviews, listings , and their history, which I've worked hard to establish, when I resume selling in the future. Should I consider taking the listings down completely, or is there a better way to handle this?
If How did you manage your store during extended, multi-year breaks? Any tips or strategies would be immensely helpful.

First of all, if you stop Selling for a year your Feedback and other history will remain in place, it just won't show much activity.
If eBay is messaging you about low performance maybe you should End your listings and let them sit in the Unsold file for 90 days before eBay drops them.
When you start Selling again you can Create new Listings but may have Selling Limits applied to your account and your funds can be held up to 21 days.

If you are TRS now (Top rated Seller) then you may drop to Above Standard until you sell the TRS requirements of 100 Domestic transactions and $ 1000 in sales in the last 12 consecutive months.
At the end of the day you are basically NOT Selling on eBay but can start again when your schedule permits.

Mentor2 years ago@dude_bro_botanics I don't know if paying for a store for an account you are not going to use for several years is worth it or not. That's a personal choice.
Your account would only be above standard and not top rated. It may have been top rated in the past but you have to have at least 100 US sales for $1000 in the last 12 months to keep Top Rated.
Your feedback is still on your account and not going anywhere. The neutrals and negatives will no longer show on the profile page overview but will still be on your profile history.
