Managed Payments - Available Funds - Garbage Policy
Just discovered the eBay 'Managed Payments' policy, as I have not sold an item on eBay for over two years and was not paying attention to the emails/user agreements.
A quick Google search has opened my eyes, and I am aware that others are also upset, and the policy changed years ago. It's pure garbage. You would expect that if you choose not to link a checking account to your eBay account, there would be other options to access your funds from sold items, as a Seller.
It's your money. Ebay is holding your money. At the very least, you should be able to access the balance and apply it to new purchases. Ebay would make money twice - once for the sold item, and again for the new purchase.
It's upsetting. My loss is minimal, others have had far bigger issues. All I can do is close my Account, and wait 2 - 3 years for a slim chance at claiming the unpaid funds through the State. Thank you, Ebay. Great experience to close out 23 years with you.

OP3 years agoPlease don’t reply to my post in defense of eBay’s Managed Payments policy. I am not looking to be reasoned with. I feel it is a terrible policy and there should be more options for Sellers in being able to receive funds from sales. End of story.

Mentor3 years agoeBay's Managed Payments works similarly to the way payments are handled on other marketplace sites. In fact the payment processor that handles Managed Payments is used on several of those sites.

No, that drastic step is not all you can do. Like millions and millions and millions of other sellers, you can simply provide the information eBay needs to process your payments, and once you're up and running again as a regular seller, you can have daily payouts if you like (I choose weekly because I don't want a bunch of deposits dribbling in daily).

Sorry you feel that way, but millions of other sellers have chosen to still sell with the transition to Ebay's Managed Payments.

When a seller receives their payout to their checking account, they can then use the money in their checking account to pay for an Ebay purchase.
