Hello, I have been interested in purchasing products, and then when I click to make an offer, I see a message that says that if the seller accepts my offer, I may be charged and am committing to purchase the product if the seller accepts my offer. What I'm wondering about is this... suppose I make an offer, the seller accepts my offer, and then I'm told that the shipping for the item is going to be $30.00, or $40.00, or $50.00... what is to prevent the seller from greatly over-inflating the item price by means of ridiculous shipping costs? Can I stipulate that my offer is conditional upon shipping costs below $20.00 let's say? Sounds like the process is automatic, in the sense that if the seller clicks on his/her Accept button, I may automatically be charged without regard to any stipulations I might have written in the offer description/comments. I haven't dared make any offers 'cause I don't know the answer to this question. Any help appreciated. Thank you.
The s/h is set out in the listing, on the Shipping and Payments tab. Those apply to Best Offer (and are non-negotiable with Best Offer--so no you can't make your offer conditional on a particular s/h amount, you are bound by what is stated/calculated to your location).
You have ALWAYS been committed to pay what you agreed to pay when you made an offer (except for a brief experiment several years ago when eBay experiments with some listings with a quasi-immediate-payment Best Offer where multiple acceptances were allowed and the item went to the first buyer who paid) under the terms of the listing.
