Made a purchase on ebay, and received two duplicate deliveries.
I made a purchase on ebay, and received two duplicate deliveries. I contacted the seller (via email through ebay) and informed them of the duplication and suggested that I could pay for the second shipment. The original bill came to just under $5 (not a huge amount). I checked my account that I paid from, and I was only billed for one transaction from this seller (I will monitor the account daily just to be sure it stays that way), and I don't see any mysterious or questionable charges there. The seller messaged me back saying, "I accidentally failed to mark the order as processed" and "you aren't obligated to buy it, but if you have a use for it and want to buy it, that'd be great for me".
Should I pay for the duplicate shipment? If I do, does the seller need to process (or send me) a second bill?
All in all, the experience with the seller has been fine, and the seller has a 99.9% positive feedback rating.

You are not obligated to pay for the 2nd item, but you can if you wish.
The seller can't invoice you through eBay.
I suggest you send a money order to the seller using the return address, or you can send money via paypal.

OP1 year agoOK. Thanks for your time and input. Also, when I was navigating through ebay's customer service stuff, I couldn't find a reference for my issue. Using "Chat" didn't go where I wanted. Does ebay have a way of talking to a "live" agent? And even though the seller looks to have a good rating (99.9%), ya always wonder nowadays if there is some scammage in play. So, I guess I'll go the route of sending payment for the duplicate goods I received, but I'll also check stuff out on the internet to see what is the current best way to make payment for this situation. I've always just paid with a credit card and haven't used PayPal typically. Thanks again, CB.

To be honest, for $5 I wouldn't worry about repaying the seller for their error, and I am a seller.
A postal money order is safe for you and the seller.
