Anyway, whether your auction with fewer than 12 hours left has any bids or not, you cannot change the starting auction price.
You might be able to lower/reduce the Reserve Price if you have no bids. You could give it a try. eBay will either allow it or not allow it. You won't be in "trouble."
But with bids, you cannot reduce a Reserve Price so close to the auction's end time.
Methinks you've just learned about eBay's Reserve Price fee.
That fee alone is the main reason why experienced sellers do not add Reserve Prices to their eBay auctions.
