Lost/stolen items

Question

Is a seller protected, if the item shipped gets lost,or unknowingly gets stolen by the recipient, who claims they never received the item,but could possibly lie about receiving it,or even possibly switch the item with a counterfeit, claiming that the counterfeit was the item received,rendering that buyer to possibly " switch" the item,and keep the authentic one that was sent to the buyer? I ask because I have an interest in selling designer bags,items as well as jewelry

There are always risks when you sell. Some categories are more high-risk than others. You've picked a high-risk category. Most buyers are honest however.

If the item is lost, you have up to $100 in insurance included with your USPS shipping label.
If the item is claimed not to be received, you are protected if you've uploaded the tracking number proving that you shipped to the address provided in the Order Details and the package was delivered there.
If the buyer claims the item is counterfeit, he can return for a refund.
If the buyer switches the item for the return, you can report the buyer. Enough reports will get his return privileges revoked and my get booted from the site, but you'll still lose money.
