Lost Top Seller Status on 5.83% Tracking not Uploaded
With zeroes on all other negative metrics, I lost my Top Seller status for not uploading tracking on 5.83% of my sales. I sell some items that can be shipped in a flat envelope with a stamp on it. In those cases, I don't want to obligate a buyer to pay $3-5 for a trackable package when I can offer free shipping with a stamp or charge them 75 cents. Why discriminate against sellers who are offering low-cost shipping incentives to buyers. Aren't we all trying to get people to buy on Ebay?
Contacted an agent who very skillfully danced around the question while insisting that Ebay offers flexibility in this regard. Ironically, in over 20 years I've had claims that an item didn't arrive, but never anything I shipped with a stamp on it. There should be some balance between the untracked metric and other signs of buyer dissatisfaction.

OP2 years agoThanks for the link. I didn't know about this service--and I'm really surprised that the agent I chatted with did not point me to it--and I see that very recently the number of categories to which it applies was expanded. I will soon be putting up a bunch of stickers with this new (to me) shipping selection. Thanks for your help!

Mentor2 years ago@stumpysdad You're welcome! Glad to help.
It's always best to ask the community for help first as we have been using the site selling for years and keep up on changes.
I also recommend signing up for the Announcements here: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Announcements/bg-p/Announcements
And anytime eBay has a seller event be sure to attend it online too. You can learn about new things that way and connect with fellow sellers too.
Hope you have a happy a holiday with lots of sales!

Mentor2 years ago@stumpysdad As a fellow seller I understand that it's frustrating to lose your TRS rating because of no tracking. Be sure you mark the items as shipped within your stated handling time.
There are some items that qualify for the eBay Standard Envelope that DOES have tracking. You can see the details here: https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/shipping/choosing-a-carrier-and-service/ebay-standard-envelope
Also sellers that want to keep TRS but also sell low cost items with stamps usually use a second account in order to keep the TRS rating. I know that this seems to be a hassle but you also get more free listings by using a second account.
