Lost package
Sent a package to Australia though Ebay International shipping. I forgot to check Global shipping. It was insured up to $100.00. The buyer did not receive it. I received an email from E-bay to refund the buyer. So, I did. Now, they do not want to reimburse me for the item. They told me to contact USPS, which I did. I was told the label was not generated through them. So, I am not only out the item, but the refund money, which it over $500.00. This lost package is new for me. So, I asked E-bay for assistance and was given excuse after excuse. Who is responsible? I am disabled and cannot afford this loss.

You say you did not use the Global Shipping Program, but you sent it "through eBay International shipping." I think what you mean by that is that your purchased the shipping label through eBay for the international shipment. Is that correct?
What carrier did you use? Was it a USPS label for international shipment? What does the tracking show for the shipment? No matter the answer to these questions, it is unfortunate that you did not insure the package for the full value of the item.
When an item is lost in shipment, it is the responsibility of the seller to reimburse the buyer and eBay will never reimburse the seller for that amount. It is up to the seller to recover any reimbursement from the carrier when that happens.
How did you contact USPS? If this was, in fact, sent through USPS, it would not matter that the label was purchased through eBay, so this part does not make sense.

OP3 years agoYes, purchased the shipping label through eBay for the international shipment.
I tried to file a claim with USPS and it was rejected. I spoke with a USPS agent and was told it was because their labels start with a different letter. I always ship global, but, it was not checked on this item. No one want to help me recoup any of my money.

·3 years agoI've never heard of anything like this. Would you want to share the tracking number? Have you tried going to the USPS website and opening a claim there? File a Claim | USPS
BTW, you marked your response as the solution/best answer. Other mentos seeing this as solved may not read this thread.
