Looking for advice on how to safely sell $20k in one lot of coins, so many questions
I spent the last 7 years buying over 9,000 silver coins on eBay, and I started selling them off in 2021. I am down to the last 2,900 coins. I want to sell them all as one item to take advantage of the lower fee tier. I managed to get them all photographed in 20 photos, and I have a summary sheet and a detail list of all the coins I can provide. I want to start the listing at $19,999. I am concerned that if I get a buyer, how do I know they are legitimate and will complete the sale? Can I include a liquidated damage clause in the listing and enforce it if they back out? Is there a way to validate buyers before they bid? After the auction, they have to pay. Is there a better payment option that would allow for a wire transfer instead of making the buyer use PayPal or a credit card? Is there a way I can prove I packed up and shipped what I showed in the listing? Also, what is the best way to ship something like this to make sure it gets there? Should I split the order into smaller parcels for ease of delivery? What should I do about insurance? My target sale date is May 10-12 which is a Friday to Sunday. Is there a best day and time to schedule this kind of auction? I really would appreciate any and all ideas because I am not sure how to handle this safely, to protect myself from buyers who would back out or claim that I didn't send them what I sold.

·2 years agoDon’t do it. There is no 100% safe/secure way to sell here.
Don’t misunderstand. I have been selling on eBay since 1996. I respect the platform, but… I sell nothing of high value and that I cannot afford to lose in the event of fraud.
A buyer may steal your coins (easily) if they are so inclined, and a listing like that will make you a PRIME target.
That’s the brutal but honest truth.
Don’t do it unless you are prepared to take the loss.
