Longtime user, new to selling.
I’m new to selling, but have been an eBay user for years. My account says I’m restricted to $50k, 500 listings a month. I was expecting my limit to be much lower.
I don’t want to get flagged or cross a safety threshold for amount listed. Is this amount correct? Or is there a lower limit that I should prescribe to? Thanks in advance.

Both of the replies so far have great info in them but I'm not sure if the getting started payments link tells you about the 30 day hold placed on all new seller's first few payments. It may be buried way down in that info so here is a link that explains the hold and how to get the funds released.

Ebay sets a Seller's selling limits. I think mine is $5M.
Keep in mind that Sellers without a store or with a Starter store, get 250 free active listings total per month. If you do not currently have a store, any active listings you have over the 250 will incur a $0.35 fee per listing. I believe a Starter store might be $0.30.
The point is, although you may be allowed to list that amount, you will incur extra fees to do so.

Mentor8 months ago@pointy_plush It is a mystery to me as to why eBay gives some new sellers very high limits and other ones very low.
My advice is to just start slow with a monthly listing dollar amount of no more than a couple of hundred or so for the first couple of months until you get the feel of how the site works.
Your listings do look nice. Good lighting. Good titles.
Have you linked and verified your checking account yet?
Sharing some info on setting up your seller account getting started:
All buyers payments are managed by eBay and sent to your linked checking account. eBay doesn't offer the debit card payout option at first.
You need to create your first listing directly on eBay to get your seller account set up.
Complete these steps in this order.
a) Draft a listing on eBay, click submit or "list it". The system should guide you through setup. If not, follow these steps:
b) Verify/update/complete your Profile Registration: Name, address, phone number, identity information (profile) on your eBay Account: https://accountsettings.ebay.com/profile
-- Use your Street Address, even if you don’t get mail there.
-- Make sure to use your full legal name and that it matches your bank account and government ID ( drivers license etc)
c) And add a Checking Account ( it must be a brick and mortar checking account) and Credit/Debit Card: https://ppcapp.ebay.com/myppc/wallet/list
You will need to provide a SS# or ITIN to receive your payouts.
Please check to see if you have BOTH a Checking account marked for "Used for payouts" and a credit/debit card. One of these (bank account or card) needs to be marked for "Preferred for selling costs" I use a credit card for selling costs so that refunds and other fees don't come from my checking account.

OP8 months agoWonderful information. Planning to keep it moderate at the start, benefit of having a few extra hands around the house to help keep things moving. Thank you for all the additional resources, already making my way down the list.
