Local pickup

Question

I checked local pickup on item. That item sold and customer would like to arrange pickup. They texted for me to send updated bill. I've tried Google. I see where I can mark as paid. Could use some expert advice please and thank you. You can probably tell am new at this! Diana

When the buyer purchased the item and used eBay checkout to pay, you would see it move to your sold list and it would be marked as paid. In states (like yours) that collect sales tax, eBay collects payment from the buyer through checkout to comply with the sales tax laws. That is how the buyer must pay (not payment on pickup, because you are unable to collect and remit the sales tax yourself).

As long as the buyer has selected local pickup during checkout, that is the process.

If the buyer selected a paid shipping option, and wants to change to local pickup, that is another matter. You will never be able to show tracking. It would be best to cancel the sale, relist as fixed price, and have the buyer repurchase with local pickup to get the accounting straight.

After payment, the buyer will be given a QR code to bring to the seller when retrieving the item. If the seller has the mobile app, then the code can be entered, and that is confirmation that the transaction has been completed. Both buyer and seller are protected because the real buyer picked up the item, and the seller released the item to the buyer.

If there is no QR code, then print out a copy of the transaction and have the buyer sign it as confirmation of receipt. For expensive items, ask for a driver license to confirm identity.
