local pick up
I made a sale of outdoor furniture more than a month ago and the buyer still has not picked up. Currently the furniture sits in a garage which I now need for my car as I leave for the season. How long am I obligated to hold furniture. I want to now give it away to someone local but I am not going to refund the seller.

·11 months agoYou may cancel the sale and provide a refund, but you should not plan to keep the money and the item (even if you then give it away). There is not a hard and fast rule on how long you should hold a local pickup order according to eBay, but a month is plenty of time.

If the Buyer paid through eBay they are protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee for 30 days. After that if the transaction goes south they will have to pursue a refund via their funding source (PayPal, credit card, etc.)
If you have messaged them to try and set up the pick up at least once there is not much more you can do.
If you liquidate it another way just be prepared to address a payment dispute if one ever happens. Obviously the right thing to do is refund the Buyer but at the end of the day what you do is your decision.
