Subject: Formal Complaint About New Listing Flow and Forced Photo-First Process
I am submitting a formal complaint regarding the current eBay listing flow for sellers.
The updated process is interfering with efficient listing creation, especially for collectibles and trading card sets. In the past, I could begin with the title and listing details, and eBay would appropriately assist with categories, payment, shipping, and item specifics. Now I am being forced to upload a photo before I can properly build the listing.
This creates several problems:
- The system attempts to auto-fill item specifics based on the image instead of my actual listing text.
- The generated item specifics are often incorrect and irrelevant.
- This is especially harmful for complex collectible listings, where the title and written details are far more accurate than a single image.
- The new workflow adds extra steps, causes confusion, and increases the time required to create listings.
- Tools and extensions that previously helped with item specifics are now far less useful because the photo requirement interrupts the normal workflow.
For example, my listing data was incorrectly populated with unrelated information that did not match the actual item I was selling. This forces me to spend additional time undoing inaccurate auto-filled fields rather than creating the listing efficiently.
I strongly object to this change and request that eBay restore a seller-controlled text-first listing option, or at minimum provide a way to bypass forced photo-first entry and disable inaccurate image-based auto-fill behavior.
This change is not an improvement for serious sellers. It creates friction, wastes time, and reduces accuracy.
