Listing Visibility Issue for My Dubai Car Rental Service on eBay Despite Active Status
Hello eBay Community,
I am currently facing a persistent and highly frustrating issue with listing visibility for my car renting service based in Dubai on eBay. The core problem is that even though my listings are active, properly categorized, and fully compliant with eBay policies (to the best of my understanding), they do not appear in search results for relevant keywords. I provide short-term and long-term car rental services, and I have created detailed listings with proper titles, descriptions, pricing, and images. Despite all of this, when I search for my own listings using relevant terms like “car rental Dubai” or “rent a car UAE,” my listings either do not appear at all or are buried so deep in the results that they are practically invisible to potential customers.
The issue becomes more concerning because the listings show as “Active” in my seller dashboard, and there are no warnings, restrictions, or policy violation notices. From a technical standpoint, everything appears to be functioning correctly: the listings are indexed, the categories are properly selected, and the pricing structure is valid. However, the lack of visibility suggests that something is preventing the listings from being properly surfaced in eBay’s search algorithm. This is particularly problematic because my business depends heavily on online exposure, and without appearing in search results, it becomes nearly impossible to attract new customers through the platform.
I have carefully reviewed my listing setup multiple times to ensure that all required fields are filled correctly and that the titles include relevant keywords. I have also experimented with different variations of titles, descriptions, and categories to see if this improves visibility, but the results remain the same. In some cases, I have even tried creating entirely new listings with slightly modified content, yet these new listings also fail to gain visibility in search results. This suggests that the issue is not limited to a specific listing but may be related to how eBay handles listings for service-based offerings such as car rentals.
Another aspect that adds complexity to the problem is that I occasionally receive a small number of views or inquiries, which indicates that the listings are not completely hidden. However, the traffic is extremely low compared to what I would expect for a high-demand service like car rentals in Dubai. This inconsistency makes it difficult to determine whether the problem is related to search indexing delays, algorithmic ranking factors, or possible limitations on service-type listings within eBay’s marketplace. It is also unclear whether geographic targeting or user location settings might be affecting how and where my listings appear.
I have also considered whether account-level factors might be influencing visibility, such as seller history, feedback score, or account age. While my account is relatively new, I have ensured that all account details are verified and that there are no outstanding issues or violations. Despite this, the visibility problem persists, and I cannot identify any clear reason why my listings are not performing as expected. Without proper visibility, it is difficult to build a reputation or generate the initial traction needed to grow my presence on the platform.
I am seeking guidance from the eBay community to better understand why my active listings for a car rental service in Dubai are not appearing in search results as expected. Specifically, I would appreciate insights into how eBay’s search algorithm handles service-based listings, whether there are specific optimization strategies I should follow, and if there are any hidden restrictions or requirements that might be affecting visibility. Any advice on improving search ranking, ensuring proper indexing, or diagnosing potential issues with my listings would be extremely helpful. My goal is to make my listings fully visible to potential customers so I can effectively offer my car rental services through the platform. Sorry for long post

OP4 months agoMy account was originally registered on the US eBay site, but the listings themselves are intended for the Dubai/UAE market since the service is based there. I’m beginning to wonder if that mismatch between the registration region and the target listing market could be affecting visibility or search placement. Most of my listings are currently targeted toward users searching for car rental services in Dubai rather than US buyers, so it’s possible the geographic setup is confusing the indexing or ranking system. I’ll review whether I should be listing through a more region-appropriate eBay site or adjusting location and visibility settings to better align with the intended audience. Thanks for raising that point I hadn’t considered the account region itself as a possible factor.

You are not going to be able to get paid if you have an interested customer as eBay requires all US sellers to provide a SS#.
This may not be the best venue for car rental services.
