Listing Price and then the Shipping Cost
I have been buying and selling on ebay for close to 30 years, and I have wanted to ask the community this question for some time and here it is. I look at a listing that has an assortment of racing memorabilia, mostly small items. It has a listing price of $100.00 or best offer. Not much description in the listing but just from the photos, I thought it was a pretty good deal and instead of bartering was going to buy the listing for the asking price. Just before hitting the buy button, I scrolled down and boom, there it was, shipping cost was $500.00. I am one state over from the seller. I passed on this listing as I don't appreciate it when a seller tries to make money on so-called shipping costs. I have shipped all over the country with shipments ranging from 15ozs to 150 pounds, and I have never broken the $100.00 mark, much less $500.00. Am I wrong in thinking this way? I know I have the option of not buying it and moving on, which I have elected to do, but am I completely off? I would appreciate any comments. Thanks in advance
