Listing Items: Auction vs Buy Now
Is It Possible to add the option to MAKE OFFERS to the current Auction Listing Template?
As a new seller (started Nov 2023), I am only sourcing personal items collected over the years. I also recently inherited additional collectables. So, my ultimate goal is simple, to sell my items. My biggest questions starting out was to decide whether it is better to list items by creating a Buy Now or Auction Listing. I have used both, but to meet my ultimate goal I have decided to create mostly Auction listings going forward. This is because I can set a minimum bid (which basically is my acceptable low offer) and also can select the Buy Now option on the listing. This allows someone who really wants the item to get it right away. Recently I had a Bidder place the minimum a bid and then contacted me to see if he Make an Offer to buy the item at a price between the current bid and the original listed Buy Now price. I would have accepted that Offer but instead I had to let him know that because he had placed the bid first, the auction was activated, and the item would be sold to the highest bidder when the auction is completed. (He did not have the highest bid). ... Now I include the following in every listing.
Buy Now or Contact Seller to make a Lower Offer!!!
* * * Buy Now & Lower Offers CANNOT be accepted after auction begins.
Action begins as soon as FIRST BID is placed.
