·1 year agoOn an auction format listing the BIN (Buy It Now button and option) goes away at some point as bids are received. The general rule is that it goes away with the very first bid (though it might come back if bids are cancelled/retracted, unlike Best Offer which does not come back once there has been any bid) with 2 exceptions:
1: In 4 categories the BIN remains available until the "current bid" (NOT the hidden maximum of the highest bidder, but what is diplayed) reaches 50% of the BIN price: 1. Parts & Accessories (eBay Motors); 2. Tickets; 3. Clothing, Shoes & Accessories; 4. Cell Phones & PDAs.
2. If there is a Reserve Price on the auction, the BIN remains available as long as the auction is "Reserve not met."

Mentor1 year agoIn most categories, when an auction receives a bid, the buy-it-now option goes away, and the high bidder is the winner at the end of the auction.
There are some categories with "sticky" buy-it-now options that remain until bidding reaches a certain level -- usually 50% of the buy-it-now price.
