Listing Frustration with Prohibited Items
Summary: staggering_penguin expressed frustration with eBay's inconsistent enforcement of prohibited item listings. They mentioned their attempts to list an item repeatedly resulted in removal, despite other sellers successfully listing the same item. Attempts to seek clarification from customer service led to suggestions that they report other sellers, which they found frustrating and ineffective.
Hello!
Reaching out to the community to see if other sellers have encountered this situation.
You post an item. eBay reports it's prohibited and hides listing. You research said item and find other seller listings for the exact same thing. You utilize listing elements, not verbatim or their pictures, and you try your listing again. Prohibited and removed. You try again with a slightly different approach. Prohibited and removed again. You use an AI model to help you write a policy-compliant listing and description. Prohibited and removed again.
You try to reach a real human for customer service and during the call, you point out that many other sellers are listing the exact item, their listings are not getting removed, and it appears eBay isn't enforcing their policy fairly or equitably across sellers. Customer service person puts you in the awkward position of doing eBay's job for them by suggesting YOU report these sellers.
So not only do you not get any real, tangible answers as to why your listing is removed while others get to keep theirs up, it then becomes your issue to solve by doing the platforms job. Super frustrating.

Mentor1 week agoOnce eBay removes your listing do not attempt to relist the item. The bots that monitor listings are looking to see if you try and relist. Continuing to relist can get your account suspended.
You do not mention what the item is. Some items have specific seller requirements so some seller can list the item and some sellers will not meet the requirements.
