Listing Fees
Summary: tinacleveland is concerned about paying for relisting unsold items on an auction site and is unsure which items contribute to their monthly cap of 250 listings. They seek advice on handling this issue as a non-professional seller. eastlaneave suggests switching from auction to Fixed Price/Buy It Now listings, which renew monthly, and recommends trying auctions a couple of times before switching to a Buy It Now format.
I started listing items last spring and I have not sold many items and keep relisting them as they do not sell by the auction method. Now, as I realized that relisting items is adding to my monthly count I'm concerned about paying money for items no one wants. I'd like to list more items, but I am avoiding that because I have no idea which items are contributing to my monthly cap of 250 items. How do other non-professional sellers handle this dilemma? I tried to run a report but that's inadequate in seeing how many times an item has been relisted, and which ones are currently contributing to my monthly total.

On your Active list there is a column titled Time left. You can sort it to give you an idea when listings will End (Auctions) or automatically Relist (BIN listings).
If you do not see that column use the Customize function in the upper right and ADD that column.
You can End BIN listings that are close to automatically Relisting, they will be moved to your Inactive -Unsold file and remain for 90 days or until you Relist them or eBay drops them after 90 days.

Switch some of your auctions to Fixed Price/Buy It Now listings.
They renew once per month and so you could have 250 items listed.
I would run an auction 1 or 2 times and then do Buy It Now.
