listing an item with flat shipping handling fee how to do when setting up a new listing

Question

I'm trying to list some items for sale after many years not selling. I want to charge a flat shipping handling fee dollar amount for my item. in setting up my new listing, I can't find how to do this anymore in any of the shipping options. I don't want to have to weigh and measure, I will take the hit if it costs more than my estimate. Can anyone explain how I can do this, say $15 shipping fee? Thanks in advance.

I agree with @disneyshopper that the priority flat rate boxes (FRB) may be your best option if you don't want to weigh and measure items. And many buyers appreciate the faster delivery of priority mail. Find the best box that fits, and select carrier-specific packaging when creating your listing. Get a few free boxes from your local Post Office to see which ones match your items.

If you charge a flat rate for shipping, there is no handling fee - you just add it to the flat rate. If you are using calculated shipping, then you can add a separate handling fee.

If you are using the new listing form, in the shipping section, under domestic shipping, select flat rate. Then select the service you want to offer. You will then see a box for that service with a space to enter a flat rate.

If you select calculated, click â€˜shipping optionsâ€™ on the far right. Click there, and you will see a radio button to turn on the handling cost field. You can then enter your handling cost.

You can definitely charge a flat $15.00 shipping/handling price for every item you ship, but if the package weighs less than about 2 pounds you will be overcharging, and probably get very few sales. If the package is very heavy, you will be undercharging. To be in the good graces of the USPS, you will need to weigh and measure the package so the shipping label will reflect the correct shipping price.

You can probably use the priority flat rate boxes if every item you sell will fit into one of those boxes.
