Limitations on adding gift cards
Summary: patridge expressed frustration over not being able to add more than 5 eBay gift cards per day, despite not finding this limitation in the Terms and Conditions. They encountered an error message when trying to add more cards and discovered online advice suggesting waiting 4 hours. The next day, they were able to add another 5 cards, but still felt the restriction was unclear and that a more informative error message would have been helpful.
tldr: Why can't I add more than 5 gift cards per day?
I bought 15 $25 eBay gift cards. I added 5...no problem...then NOPE! No explanation other than the same "number not recognized" or whatever it said. As you can imagine, I attempted to add the other gift cards only to receive the same message. Now I am confused and mad and frustrated so I turn to Google and ask and it says something about "Give it 4 hours" or something.
So, I waited until the next day and I could add another 5 only.
I checked the Terms and Conditions and nowhere (that I could find) does it mention in the "Restrictions" section anything about the number per day you can redeem. It does state the $1,000 max per day limit. That's all.
Anyway, I know eBay is getting out of the gift card game so they don't care...but they and others should know the limitation is not clear.
A simple "you've reached the max per day" message would have been nice ...js

Mentor2 weeks agoLimits on gift cards are typically intended to reduce fraud.
Gift cards were primarily intended to be given as gifts, not to be used as an alternative funding source for large purchases.
Since eBay has moved from users adding gift cards at checkout during a purchase to adding gift cards directly to an eBay account, the limits on purchases apparently also apply to linking cards to an account, and for similar reasons.
