Legitimate seller on eBay?
I recently had a look at a seller's other items for sale that were not posted on eBay. Two items caught my eye and I followed their instructions for "bidding" on these items. This is a situation where it is too good to be true, but the actual name of the seller does not match their eBay name. They sent me an invoice and stated that I should pay them through eBay so as to take advantage of the guarantees offered by the website as well as the ease of conducting the transaction. The seller appears to be located in the northeast U.S. in either Connecticut or Boston area, so this is not a Nigerian email scam, but still given that I am spending $5K on one coin, I am a little bit leery about all of this. What do all of you think?

Mentor2 years ago@zdanovim SCAM!!! That is not how buying on eBay works. eBay has NOTHING to do with sales on other sites.

OP2 years agoThanks for your quick response. I just wrote to eBay. I am pretty sure it is a scam, too. No money changed hands fortunately, but I am stringing the person along so further investigation can be done by eBay (if they pick up the gauntlet). The invoices indicating my interest were addressed to a third person in CT. Very strange!
