Late shipping scores
On several occasions buyers request I hold an item they have bought so that they can complete the bid on a second item. While waiting the first item is marked as overdue and eBay lowers your shipping performance score. How can this be avoided? Doesn't seem fair when you are trying to accommodate a customer.

My aadvice is to let the buyer know that if they want to combine shipping on different auctions they must let you know and wait to pay until both auctions are ended.
If you use automatic unpaid item cancelation you would need to add the buyer to your exemption list.
Another option if you wish to try and accommodate your buyer if they have paid is to have the buyer ask to cancel. Then cancel as buyer requested, refund, and relist as a Buy It Now once the second auction has ended so they can buy it again . I have done this a few times when I used to sell a lot using auctions. It made for happy buyers who came back and purchased more.

Often when a buyer needs special terms they send a message to the seller. So if they do that before they purchase, you can change the handling time on the one they want to purchase but need you to hang onto for them to complete their shopping.
You just need to get creative or tell the buyer no because Ebay rules don't allow for it without dinging the seller's health of their account.
