Lahaina Maui Wildfire dispute
I live on Maui and on Aug 8th a wildfire wiped out our town. There was no warning and I barely made it out alive. My house and most my inventory was completely lost. We had no communication to the outside world for 2 weeks. Meaning I couldn't let eBay know or even put in for "Time Away". I ended up on Aug 22nd being able to communicate with an eBay rep who instructed me to ask for a "Request to Remove" on those late shipments. Mind you that EVERY buyer sent me messages letting me know that they were praying, and they did not mind waiting at all and to take care of my family and heal.
So, I did what the eBay rep asked me to do and yes, I'm sure you have guessed by now, they declined all of the late shipping removal requests and that was final.
I really thought eBay was going to be there for me. Strangers are here for me here. But no. There was a fire. My home and even the Post Office was destroyed. Worse fire disaster in 100 years. Did eBay care? Absolutely not. I've seen all those videos where sellers tell similar stories and I guess I'll be making one now myself. My ranking didn't drop but my heart did. After such a tragic loss, it seems that I simply don't matter in eBays eye. And if you think it's just and automated AI thing? They told me after when I inquired, that no matter if it was, the decision is final. Well, I guess I am getting ready to make my final decision.
I guess with this community chat this should be formed as a question.
Does eBay really care about a seller?
inceptions
Mentor2 years agoI'm so sorry. My heart goes out to you and everyone affected by these fires.
I want to send you this link to the eBay announcement stating that those affected by the fires have seller protections.

Did you actually speak to a representative or did you use chat or the automated appeal link?
I would recommend you request a callback to speak with someone voice-to-voice to get help. Point them to this announcement. Those defects should have automatically been removed.
At the link below, you can request a call back from eBay by clicking Have us call you on the left side of the page. If you don't see that option, click Chat with our automated assistant. Then type "agent" at the bottom in the chat box. You'll see an option to request a call back there.

If you can time it right, try to call during normal eBay daytime business hours. It may help to get you to a US-based rep (no guarantees, but it may help).
