lack of listing and few views

I am now only listing auctions and many fewer listings than usual. I am noticing zero to few views on most things. Probably a case of "nobody wants your stuff" but I also wonder if the lower number of listings is impacting visibility. Some people say there is a connection like that. Any thoughts?
Don't people have to view the listing to find out it's an auction and therefore not of interest? I know if they sort first they do not have to view but I thought more usually people click on the listing and then find it's an auction and say "naah".

Potential buyers can select a tab at up at the top of the search results list to see only Auctions or only Buy It Now listings.
