KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON YOUR ACCOUNT
Just a heads up to keep a close eye on your account!!!! We received a message that a restriction had been placed on our account. After several conversations with customer support and given multiple different reasons for the restriction we were finally told that there had been "a glitch" and no restrictions were in place.
The next day we have a few auctions end with below average sold price. I chalked it up to the economy or recent bank collapse or whatever unseen variable. That was until I checked new listings and saw they had zero views. Had an associate that follows our ebay page and they confirmed half of our listings weren't visible to them. Items were visible and shown as active from our page but not to anyone else.
Used the chat feature and had a representative tell us that no listings were hidden and no restrictions were in place. Used the "have us call you" feature and had a representative first say everything was visible then back track and say there was a technical issue. Then went back to saying that nothing was hidden, even stated that an item number we gave them resulted in no item found, problem is the item number came directly from our ebay listing. Representative said that it was a technical issue and couldn't be immediately resolved and couldn't say how long it might take. Asked the representative what could be done regarding our items due to end in less than 24hrs that couldn't receive any additional bids due to not being visible....No answer aside from "I understand your concern but it's a technical problem".
We make the decision to just end the auctions early and relist after the "technical problem" was solved. Prior to that I remembered that ebay will often charge fees for ending an auction early. Contact ebay again through the chat feature that way a copy of the conversation would be emailed at the end. After some round abouts and attempts to detour the conversation I blantly asked the representative "just to be clear, we will not be penalized or charged in any way for ending the listings early"? We were assured that there would be no fees, charges or penalties...... Well guess what, check the transaction history and within minutes of canceling the auctions we were hit with fees! Additionally I asked if I could contact the current bidders and explain the situation and why the items were being ended early. Customer service representative told us that we could without any issues. Well that was incorrect as after messaging only 6 bidders we were hit with a "you have reached your limit for messaging and must wait until tomorrow" screen.
Moral of the story is Ebay screws up resulting in lower sold prices, makes false statements, leaves sellers with no positive recourse and takes zero accountability for anything. We'll see if anything changes in the morning when we will attempt to contact some form of supervision but I'm not holding my breath.
KEEP AN EYE ON EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR ACCOUNT!!!!
