Jewelry Authentication Program
Is anyone else having issues with the Jewelry Authentication Program as a seller? I have had 50% of the items sent to them recently fail for ridiculous reasons and without them contacting the seller to see if they are OK with any minor discrepancies found and even several items come back to me damaged with gouges taken out of my pieces for what I can only assume is crude gold testing. I have lost around $7500 this year so far with sales being cancelled for reasons like diamond weight in a piece with 30 diamonds baguettes was .01 carats out of the acceptable range, 18k earrings had unmarked 14k posts, a near worthless $5 mineral stone was misidentified on a $1200 sale of a designer 5 piece necklace pendant set, a one of a kind 14k $1500 Antique Mabe Pearl piece was rejected because I selected the pearl category because there was no mabe pearl option(this piece came back damaged and I had to scrap it, a $795 David Yurman Sterling bracelet with original tags on it was rejected with "doesn't seem to be authentic" as a reason after a near IDENTICLE bracelet I purchases from the same jeweler passed inspection without tags no problem a few months prior, a $850 18k pair of earrings were rejected because I thought they were Rhodolite Garnets and they turned out to be Pink Tourmalines (much more valuable stone) the customer would have been thrilled as these are worth much more than originally thought but the sale was cancelled without giving the buyer an option to proceed with the sale. As a result I removed all my items worth over $499 to the tune of $30,000 of inventory I will be selling on another platform. By the way I have been selling on eBay for almost 30 years with 100% pos feedback and over 5000 transactions. I called customer support after the last issue and I was told there was no-one available to talk to and someone wold call me back in 24-48hrs and NO CALL. Bye Bye Ebay, its time for us to go on a break again, I think this is the 4th or 5th time in 30 years that new eBay programs and seller policies forced me to leave. Its turning into a bargain hunters paradise with crap from India and China are flooding the jewelry category. I is no longer a good place to sell high quality Estate Jewelry.
