I've been defrauded by a seller.
The seller no longer responds to messages except to say I wouldn't be getting my item. Out about $1,500 . Does ebay cover the cost?

I wanted to add to what @eburtonlab has provided, below is what else we share with Buyers in your situation but please note, your protection from eBay is for 30 days from the estimated delivery date. If you go beyond that you have to file a dispute with your funding source.
Really sorry that happened ... the date you want to keep an eye on is the original estimated delivery date. One day past that is when you can process a claim.
You are protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee for 30 days from the latest estimated delivery date: eBay Money Back Guarantee policy
You can file a claim via the item in your Purchase History that you did not receive your item one day past the original estimated delivery date and up to 30 days after that. Follow the steps in the claim and they will lead to an eventual refund.
You can report a Seller here: Report an issue with a seller | eBay

OP9 months agoI could also contact my credit card company I've been with for 35 years. They would certainly reverse charges but would that mess with ebay's process?

Mentor9 months agoIf you try going through eBay first you may stand the best chance of getting a quick refund, giving the seller a defect that counts against the seller's account, and leaving the seller appropriate feedback.
If you are unable to get help through eBay or you miss your deadline, at that point you can fall back to your credit card company.
In most situations, eBay's deadlines to act are much shorter than your card issuer's, and once you start a case with your payment provider, the matter is taken out of eBay's hands entirely and any open eBay case is automatically closed.

Try eBay first. As soon as you file a dispute with your Funding source eBay washes their hands of your issue.
You may stand a better chance IF you file a dispute if you tried eBay's system first.

eBay has a money back guarantee for items that are not received or not as described.
