Items packaged and delivered via Amazon
I ordered a laptop battery from an Ebay seller.
It arrived in an Amazon box from an Amazon van.
The item was listed as "new" but, it was beat up.
My question is:
Can sellers sell items they don't actually hold in their own inventories?
Drop ship you an item from a 3rd party?
If this is the case, how can the seller accurately account for the item's condition or functionality?
They can't. They're taking it on faith.
I found the same battery on Amazon.
My seller made $9 and I have a busted POS.
Now suddenly, the seller is "away" til Sept 9th.
Good times.

Many Sellers have some of their inventory stored with Amazon and use them to fulfill their eBay transactions. That is allowed by eBay.
What is not allowed is when an eBay Seller uses their Prime account to ship something to their eBay Buyer and mark it as a gift.
Either way, if you received something that is not as shown in the listing, you have 30 days from delivery to open an Item Not as Described refund request.
The Seller will have three business days to respond with either a prepaid return label or a refund.
If they do not respond on time, on the 4th day go back to your request and ask eBay to step in and force the refund.
It is recommended that you contact the Seller first to give them the chance to make things right.
