item was returned to sender due to incorrect address. How do I collect shipping to resend the item?
Buyer messaged that the address was incorrect. The package was returned to me and they want me to resend it to them. How do I collect for the new shipping cost without being flagged as taking the sale outside of ebay. I need to ask for email address, etc. To send a PayPal invoice for the shipping.

OPJul 12, 2026 at 12:07 AMThank you! I am worried about asking too much personal info for PayPal in ebay messages. I dont want to get in trouble with ebay. Have you done this before without causing a red flag with ebay?

MentorJul 12, 2026 at 1:32 AMHi @marbrad9378
The only thing you need is the buyer's email address which is perfectly fine to request as you two are in a current transaction. However, I would refund the buyer for the purchase price of the item (not including original shipping paid by the buyer), relist, and advise the buyer to be sure to use the change link found under the displayed ship-to address to correct it before completing payment.
Depending on where the buyer wants the item shipped, the cost could be very different from what she paid on the original transaction.
