Item was refunded for no reason and I want to know why.
Summary: kym07m shared their experience of purchasing an item from an auction and later receiving an unexpected refund without requesting it. The seller's profile indicated they were away, and kym07m was unable to get a response from them. disneyshopper suggested waiting since feedback can be left within 60 days. The refund message oddly stated 'buyer canceled', which puzzled kym07m, leading them to consider waiting until the seller returns before taking further action.
So I bought something about 7 days ago from an auction I won. A few days pass and the item hadn’t been shipped or anything but the sellers profile had that banner that says “the seller is away” so I was just going to wait. Yesterday I received an email stating that I was issued a refund. I don’t know why the purchase was refunded, I did not ask for the refund. I tried messaging the seller but I have not gotten a response. I don’t know if I should leave negative or neutral feedback stating that the item was refunded for no reason? I don’t know if I should wait for a response from the seller either. I did want the items so I am a bit upset and I don’t know what to do next.

Mentor1 week agoDidn't the message from ebay include the reason for the refund? Since the seller is away, perhaps s/he could not ship within the stated handling time. You have 60 days in which to leave feedback, so if you want to wait until the seller returns, you can do that.

OP1 week agoI just found it and it says “buyer canceled” so that’s strange and not true! The sellers profile says that they are away until October 6 but since they claimed I canceled I’m not very confident I’ll get my order. I think they did that because they didn't like the price the auction ended at maybe? But I can also wait till that date and hopefully I get some answers.

OP1 week agoThey actually just responded to me! They were unable to ship the item because of medical reasons but said will message me again about purchasing when they’re better! Thank you for the help!
