I purchased a GPS system with a cracked screen and the listing said for parts. When I received the item I took it out of the box and it was damaged like the ad had stated but while looking at the back the case I realized all of the screws had been removed and the bezel had been opened. I pulled off the back to realize that all of the main components of the GPS unit had been removed and parted out already. I emailed the buyer and they waited until the last minute to respond and stated they would offer me $20 of the $150 I paid. I've asked them to return the unit as it had already been gutted for parts and this was unfair. Do I have any options?

You are protected by the eBay Money Back Guarantee for 30 days from the date of receipt: eBay Money Back Guarantee policy
Go to the item in your Purchase history and file a RETURN using the reason "Does not match pictures or description". eBay will issue you a pre-paid return shipping label regardless of the Seller's return policy. You return the item and the Seller will have 2 days to refund you. Failing that you go back to the claim and ask eBay to step in and force the refund.

OP10 months agothank you.. do I need to wait a specific time as it stated I needed to wait 3 days for the seller to respond.. he did at the last minute and that's when he offered me $20. I declined but don't know what to do next or how to get a return label.

Go to the item in your Purchase history and file a return using the reason "Does not match pictures or description". You will receive a return shipping label and can send the item back. You do NOT have to be in contact with the Seller during the return process. Once the Seller has the item back they have 2 days to refund you, failing that you go back to the claim and ask eBay to step in.

You are more than welcome. Whether one buys or sells on the internet eventually a transaction will go sideways, we've had it happen a few times over the years.
