Item was billed, but never ordered or received
I found a charge on my bank account for an item I never ordered and never received. I called and talked with two different customer help people. The second one I could not understand and I don't believe she understood what the problem was. I was waiting for some result of this call, but none came. Just prior to this, I did place an order, received and paid....no issues. However, Since I don't shop eBay very often, there has to be a connection between the two, because there is no other way they could have gotten all my information. This fraud item does not show on my purchase history, but it came up for the customer service people. There is some fraud going on. Has anyone else experienced this? Unless this is resolved, and I can be assured it will not happen again, I will not be dealing with eBay.

OP5 months agoWhat scares me is this.....if sellers are not given my bank info, then how did this phantom "sale" get created? And, how was it shipped and shows as arrived and yet did not.....and does NOT show on my history. The fraud has to be within ebay then. Yes, I can have the bank pay for it, but however this was done once, it can be done to other people and we have no recourse within ebay. That is not good.

Mentor4 months ago@bookiemo An eBay member can make a guest purchase not logged in to their account. Guest purchases do not show in your purchase history.
As to how exactly your debit or credit card was stolen it is hard to say. I am sure if you contact your bank they will have a long list of ways scammers steal your information.
Because your eBay account was not hacked but your payment method that is why you have to contact your bank. IF your eBay account was hacked then the item would be in your purchase history.

Mentor5 months ago@bookiemo If the item is not in your purchase history then you have to dispute the charges with your bank. Report as you don't recognize the transaction or fraud.
Sellers do not have access to your payment information. Be sure to run a virus scan to check for spyware. Just to be safe change your passwords and secret questions on email, eBay, and bank account. They should all be unique
