Item sold below Buy it Now price without an offer being made!
I've been selling on ebay for over 20 years. I recently had a few items sell below my Buy it Now price, without the buyer ever making an offer to me for to consider! Ebay just accepted the offer on my behalf! I never check the box to "Auto Accept" offers, so I'm used to just countering or accepting offers as they come in. I've been selling with Buy It Now (with offers considered) for many years, so I am very familiar with the process. Did they change it? This seems like a malfunction of the auction process, but since ebay no longer offers any Customer Service, I can't reach anyone to figure out what happened. Any ideas?

OP2 years agoinceptions, thank you so much for pointing that out. Since ebay no longer has a customer service phone or email to help sellers or buyers, your suggestion was extremely helpful. I any case I contacted them and they could not figure it out so they escalated the case to their IT department to try to figure it out. The person clearly saw the problem and could not explain it. Not sure that makes me feel better, but at least I know I'm headed in the right direction! Thanks

OP2 years agoFor example, I sold a $95 item for full price a few weeks ago and the order details make perfect sense. And it shows $95 as the item subtotal, not like the one in my original post, where the subtotal shown was not the asking price.

OP2 years agoI sincerely appreciate you responding to my post. And yes I'm very familiar with the order details section. I'm still having trouble understanding how the buyer paid $135 for a $165 item. It's exactly $30 less than the asking price, which is an 18.18% discount to the price. It's too high to be the selling fee, and no matter how I factor in the shipping and tax, the math just doesn't work out. Here's the details for my $165 item...

Mentor2 years agoThanks for posting that. I don't make/accept offers, so I'm not familiar with what you should be seeing there if an item sold on an offer. Can you check to see what shows under What your buyer paid for a Best Offer sale?
Also, click Sell Similar on your item listing (this is for reference only - don't submit), to see if you might have set up a range for auto-acceptance? If you didn't, I'm stumped, and I think you'll need to contact eBay on this one.
If needed, at the link below, you can request a call back from eBay by clicking Have us call you on the left side of the page. If you don't see that option, click Chat with our automated assistant. Then type "agent" at the bottom in the chat box. You'll see an option to request a call back there.

OP2 years agoThat's interesting, but the email that ebay sent me that states the price paid by the buyer for the first item was only $135, which is a $30 discount to the asking price. (See below) Much too high to be an ebay selling fee, and too much of a round number to be shipping. I still don't get it...

Mentor2 years agoOn the Order Details page, look at the bottom right to see the breakdown of the buyers payment and what you earned. For example:

OP2 years agoDisneyshopper, I understand your comment, but how do you explain the order details that ebay shows on their site for that $165 item?

Mentor2 years agoI can't explain what you are seeing vs what I am seeing on the site. Obviously, something is not right, but not sure what may have caused it.

Mentor2 years agoI don't see that any of your recent sales sold as a best offer. (If they did, there would be a line crossing out the price with the wording "Best Offer accepted" underneath.)
