Item shipped "untracked"
I purchased a model kit and after a day or so I asked when the item would ship. He said it would tomorrow or next date. Whatever that means. Then I looked at my purchases and it says shipped" untracked" I contacted the seller and asked if there was a tracking number and a couple hours later he replied "have" I have bought a lot of kits and never had something ship without a tracking number. Anyone ever dealt with this type of situation before?

Mentor3 weeks agoAs a buyer, obtaining a tracking number from the seller is not necessary since Ebay provides buyers with an estimated date of delivery and purchases are covered by the Ebay Money Back Guarantee.
Tracking is for the benefit of the seller to prove delivery if buyer states they never received the item.

OP3 weeks agoThanks for the information, I get what you are saying I guess I just don't understand how this would help the seller. I would think that a seller would want the package tracked so what is the angle, what are scenarios where a seller would go this route

Here is how to formally request a refund of your full payment if your item doesn't arrive:
1) Look at your purchase history here: https://www.ebay.com/mye/myebay/purchase
- View Order Details
- Check the Estimated Delivery Date for your purchase, and
- Check the tracking for your purchase
When it is past the estimated delivery date (and there is no tracking, or the tracking doesn’t show that is close to delivery):
2) Open an "Item Not Received Case". You can do that right here by clicking on the photo of your item and following the steps: https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/-/reporting-item-didnt-receive?id=4042
(If it is not yet time for a case to be opened, it will give you the exact date after you click the photo.)
You will be able to select whether you want the Item or a Refund
-- You have 30 days from the estimated delivery date to open a case)
3) You can check the status of your case here:

The seller must respond within 3 business days to provide a delivery update, offer a replacement, or give you a refund. If the seller doesn't respond after 72 hours, ask eBay to Step In. You must do this before 21 days after the case was opened.
