Item shipped from outside the US

Question

The item I bought, a Jellycat bunny, stated it was located inside the US. Yet when I tracked the shipment, it needed to clear customs.

the rabbit has a few minor flaws and I’m worried it’s not authentic. I wouldn’t care but it’s for my young daughter.
I can’t find any help on eBay about what to do or how to report. When I used the chat, the sale was “removed due to policy”.
thanks for any insight!

You most likely will just need to file a not received refund request case.

I understand and share your frustration, my reply is long because I want to make sure that you are aware of all of your rights as a buyer. Never expect an item sooner than the last estimated delivery date. If it is more than 7 business days chances are the seller maybe not be telling the truth about the item location.

Advise the seller that per eBay policy they are required to to state the true location that they are shipping from on the listing and that if they do not cancel and refund you NOW that you will be filing an eBay Money Back Guarantee case.

You should report the seller for violating eBay policy by lying about the items location. eBay doesn't know that the seller is shipping from a different location than stated on the listing unless they are reported.

To report go to this page>

Suspicious seller activity> other

Say in the box "Item location misrepresentation. seller stated they would ship from US but is actually shipping from another country." Don't get too wordy as bots read this first.

NEXT> File a not received refund request when it is one day past the last estimated delivery date stated in your purchase history. https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/get-help-item-hasnt-arrived?id=4042 Then Ask eBay Step in and help on the 4th business day if the seller has not refunded you.

NEXT> If the item DOES arrive on time then you can file a return request as an incorrect item location makes the item not as described. IF it arrives in the US with Tariffs due RESPOND TO THIS POST BEFORE FILING A REFUND REQUEST. You will need to handle this differently.

The seller will not be able to provide a valid return label since they are located in another country. If the seller shipped from the US they are not allowed to require a return to another country even for buyers remorse returns. Sellers are required to pay return shipping for not as described items no matter where they are located.

Select the return item button on this page:

The reason Doesn't Match photos and description.

Ask eBay to Step In from the case after 4 business days if the seller has not refunded or sent the money to your PayPal account to pay return shipping> https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/ask-ebay-step-help-buyers?id=4701&st=

The seller then has the choice of sending you the money to pay return shipping to your PayPal account OR refunding you without a return of the item. Do NOT pay return shipping yourself and expect to be refunded for it after the item is returned even if an agent says to do this as eBay can not force a refund from the seller for more than the original sale price.

eBay may place the case on hold for 5 days if the seller chooses the PayPal option.

99% of the time a seller in another country will refund without a return of the item once you involve customer service.

Returns to countries NOT on this list must ship via Priority Mail or you will not have tracking proof of delivery.>

If you do have to buy a return label with the funds the seller provided then you MUST enter the tracking number into the return request so you will have proof of the return.

Adding tracking to your return:

Adding tracking details to your return helps protect against delays or issues in the refund process.

Here's how to add the tracking information to your return if you're using your own return shipping label:

Go to the return request in Purchase History.
Select the shipping carrier from the dropdown list. If you select Other, enter the carrier name.
Enter the tracking number.
Select Mark as sent.
